The restaurant, under the Grand Central Terminal viaduct is open, and the retail bakery in the cafe area in front is now turning out sweets in several forms.
The tartlets, made with pecans, fruit, chocolate or custard, are as delicious as the little cakes, including berry financiers, coconut cakes and cheesecakes. They’re an excellent option for commuters by subway or rail. On second thought, maybe they should be walked off.
Other creations from the bakery include muffins, in combinations like three-onion-and-cheese or banana-almond.
